Katrina is Barbie... and the rest ?

                                     KATRINA KAIF
IN THE WORLD of celebrity, what you see is what you get. Katrina Kaif is the Indian face of Barbie for a reason that goes beyond her hour-glass frame.

Her personality or celebrity — something that her fans know her by — is 'very Barbie'. She wears the tiered frocks, keeps her much mascara-ed eyelashes on an auto-pilot flutter mode, minds her P’s and Q's and most importantly never ever kisses and tells. It’s for a reason she stole the title, allegedly from ice-ueen Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. She has a 'doll-like' quality that comes across mostly in her fashion choices. In the brandconscious environment that celebrities live in, girls have to carve a niche for themselves.

KAREENA KAPOOR
THERE'S no denying how Bebo feels about herself. In her own words, she feels, "she's totally worth it". Even before she arrived on the scene around ten years ago, Kareena Kapoor was known as Karisma Kapoor's 'fashionable younger sister'. She feels she has the personality to carry anything and after bringing size zero on the curvy-hindi-heroine scene, she obviously feels she has that edge. Her clothes though tend to be a bit boyfriend crazy. When she was dating Shahid Kapoor, one only spotted her in ripped jeans, graffiti t-shirts and keds. She usually went with a just-out-of-the-shower look.

                                     PRIYANKA CHOPRA
IF THERE'S one movie that captured Priyanka Chopra's fashion personality really well, it was Madhur Bhandarkar's Fashion. From wearing denim on denim and outlined lips, she went to wearing layered shifts with nude make-up.

That's pretty much the way she is even off-screen. One day, she’d pull an absolute stunner in a bang-ontrend jumpsuit, then the next day she'd go ahead and wear a denim skirt with cringe-worthy boots. There’s no knowing which way she’d go. Something about her is still a bit behenji.

DEEPIKA PADUKONE
SHE MIGHT have quit the runway for movies but she can still give any size zero model a run for their money. Even at 5’9’’ and with a killer bikini body, there’s something very accessible about Deepika Padukone. She knows she can look like a complete diva in gowns and saris, but you’d still mostly spot her in casual sundresses and flat chappals, looking rather endearingly ordinary.

By dressing down and going minimal, she shows how very confident and self-assured she is. This kind of urban, carefree style is shown in the characters she has recently played in movies like Love Aaj Kal, Houseful to Break ke Baad. Nerdy glasses, messenger bags, casual dresses, miimal make-up and pinned up straight hair — her style is totally next-door, urban and relaxed chic.

                                     SONAM KAPOOR
THERE was less humour and more truth in what actor Imran Khan said of Sonam Kapoor on the show Koffee with Karan. With a straight face, he said of the young Kapoor girl, "she should focus more on movies and less on magazine covers".

Sonam, however it seems, is pretty happy to be stuck with this image. She is the resident fashion queen of Bollywood and loves the tag, and even if she doesn’t, it’s unlikely she’d get rid of it any time soon. With movies like Aisha and I hate luv stories, one knows she is already branded as the Upper East Side, privileged girl who knows her pop culture all too well. Even in her interviews she talks more of fashion, shopping destinations and lifestyle options.

KANGNA RANAUT
SHE IS the quintessential arriviste on the scene. Not to be bullied by the Bollywood brat-pack or bogged down by relationship baggage, Kangna is soon emerging as a fashion force to reckon with.

Her style is all too fierce as she consciously dons several looks one more vibrant than the other. While Sonam Kapoor sees her as a potential contender for the fashionista tag, she in turn snubs her “advice”. Having carved her own niche in mostly ‘loony’ roles, Kangna’s fashion personality is also in the same vein.
